Annie Vamper, one of the first African-American employees of the Bureau of Federal Credit Unions (NCUA today) started her credit union career with the College City Elks Lodge FCU.
During the 1960s, she organized, chartered and trained staff of 12 neighborhood credit unions. She worked in credit union management in the 1970s and then returned to work with NCUA until 1983 as 2nd in command of the Community Development Credit Union division.
Her career in credit unions spanned over 30 years.
